The experience begins in one of the historic villages of Rethymno, known for its natural water springs and ancient plane trees. From there, the route continues into the lush valley, where the river, dense vegetation, and traditional stone settlements create a landscape that feels untouched by time.

Further along, a cave-like Byzantine chapel appears — a place of quiet spirituality that marks the transition into a different world: the wild nature of the gorge.

The journey then leads into the impressive and well-known Kourtaliotis Gorge, one of the most striking natural landscapes in Crete and the Mediterranean.
